BRITISH SQUADRON MARKINGS / Tac Signs
A seen if armoured car, tanks and other ww2 vehicles. Tactical signs were used to identify the vehicle within in its regiment and the regiment within its brigade
Armoured brigades normally comprised of 3 armoured regiments. These being Senior, second and junior. The colour of this tactical sign denotes the regiment’s position in the brigade.
The different shapes identify the squadrons.
Diamond = Regimental HQ
Triangle = A Squadron
Square = B Squadron
Circle = C Squadron
Rectangle bar = D Squadron where used
Size, style, position and even the orientation of these marking varied between the units themselves. This being said typically these were found to be on the side of the hull or turret of a vehicle. However if looking at Armoured cars or Recce regiments these guys normally displayed them on the front and rear of the hull
