Prestone and then the date, and what it means, for example
“PRESTONE -4 4”
This would have been winterised in 1944, this would be the year antifreeze was put into the vehicle. Prestone was an anti-freeze manufacturer/type of anti-freeze used. ( they also are still in business today)
This marking was also normally painted in a gasoline soluble paint. This was either white or yellow. Therefore, this could be washed off and updated accordingly when the system was drained or topped up.
Researchers have also said that they also used, Winterised – or Anti-freeze then the year
